NASA Science Balloon crashes seconds after take off

Waste! A huge balloon of waste! I was scouring the web for the video of the said NASA science balloon crash.   In dramatic video released by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC),  the giant 400-foot (121-meter) balloon is seen just beginning to lift its payload, then the telescope gondola appears to unexpectedly come loose from its carriage. The telescopes crash through a fence and overturn a nearby parked sport utility vehicle before finally stopping.   The balloon was carrying the Nuclear Compton Telescope (NCT), a gamma-ray telescope built by astronomer Steven Boggs and his colleagues at the University of California, Berkeley, California to study astrophysical sources in space.   Next time don't focus too much on the telescope, make sure the balloon is big enough to carry that worthless very expensive payload.

State of Arizona passed new immigration bill

Gov. Jan Brewer ignored criticism from President Barack Obama on Friday and signed into law a bill supporters said would take handcuffs off police in dealing with illegal immigration in Arizona, the nation's gateway for human and drug smuggling. With hundreds of protesters outside the state Capitol shouting that the bill would lead to civil rights abuses, Brewer said critics were "overreacting" and that she wouldn't tolerate racial profiling.   "We in Arizona have been more than patient waiting for Washington to act," Brewer said after signing the law. "But decades of inaction and misguided policy have created a dangerous and unacceptable situation."   Earlier Friday, Obama called the Arizona bill "misguided" and instructed the Justice Department to examine it to see if it's legal. He also said the federal government must enact immigration reform at the national level — or leave the door open to "irresponsibility by others."   I'm pretty sure hundreds or even thousands of those protesters have an illegal immigrant family member in the U.S. I mean c'mon who's stupid enough not to want to stop or at least temporarily halt the profileration of illegals in the U.S.? By the way, why is Obama so over reacting on this issue? Did he do something good or at least had made a (no-help-of-telemprompter) speech about the illegals since he became the president of the United States of immigrants?   Did I hear anyone screaming of civil rights abuses? So what do you think about the plans of Barack Obama to NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) Obama proposes to scrapped the Constellation Program, is a human spaceflight program within NASA, the space agency of the United States. The stated goals of the program are gaining significant experience in operating away from Earth's environment, developing technologies needed for opening the space frontier and conducting fundamental science.    The funny thing is that President Obama is proposing the government to use commercial space craft or better yet the Russian space rockets most probably the Soyuz as a means of ferrying people to the International Space Station while the new rocket continues to be developed. How dumb is that? Could it be a part of the plan for the nuclear treaty of the two super nations?   The president of the United States disregarded the lost of jobs and cash that were already spent for the production of two new boosters for the constellation program. NASA has already begun the process of designing two boosters, the Ares I and Ares V. Well hopefully he it was just a mistake or most probably he just read the wrong teleprompter.

Chinese coal carrier damaged the great barrier reef of Australia

A Chinese coal carrier rocked back and forth over a section of Australia's Great Barrier Reef after running aground, inflicting a gash 2 miles (3 kilometers) long into a shoal that will take 20 years to heal. A leading marine scientist called it the worst damage he's ever seen to the world's largest coral reef.

The Shen Neng 1 veered into protected waters and ran aground on Douglas Shoal on April 3, immediately leaking 2-3 tons of fuel when coral shredded its hull.

The 755-foot (230-meter) ship was successfully lifted off the reef Monday after crews spent three days pumping fuel to lighten it. Salvage crews later towed it to an anchorage area near Great Keppel Island, 40 nautical miles (45 miles, 70 kilometers) away.

Its refloating left a scar 1.9 miles (3 kilometers) long and up to 820 feet (250 meters) wide.

"There is more damage to this reef than I have ever seen in any previous Great Barrier Reef groundings," scientist David Wachenfeld told reporters Tuesday.

The oil that first leaked from the hull was quickly dispersed by chemical sprays and is believed to have caused little or no damage. Small amounts of oil, however, have begun washing up on beaches near where the ship ran aground, according to Maritime Safety Queensland.

In some areas, "all marine life has been completely flattened and the structure of the shoal has been pulverized by the weight of the vessel," Wachenfeld said, speaking of the fragile coral and the plants and fish that may have inhabited the area.- Y!

The company's chief of shipping and development, Hu Wei said in a statement that they were sorry and have vowed to work closely with investigators and maritime authorities.


"The vessel did not alter course to the east to go through the passage as planned, and as a consequence the vessel ran aground on Douglas Shoal," he said.

When you click on a notebook, you get a really nice icon view of your individual notes and documents in the selected notebook, with selected content displayed underneath. I could write an entire article about this app, but suffice to say, the design is just great.

I haven’t had a chance to read an entire book using the application, but based on reading a few pages from a sample book I downloaded from the iBooks store, the experience is pretty much like reading on the Kindle for the iPhone, but with a larger screen.

Apple has thrown some impressive eye-candy into its e-reader that resembles reading a paper book. Personally, I’m glad I put off buying the Kindle and waiting instead for the iPad. If you’re a dedicated Kindle customer, the Kindle for the iPad is equal to the iBook, for highlighting and bookmarking text and pages, though the iBook has search capabilities absent in the Kindle iPad app.

I’m simply loving Twitterific for the iPad, even with its unobtrusive ads. The developers also take full advantage of the iPad’s screen real estate. In horizontal view, you get every feature of the app available to you in on a single screen. In vertical view, you simply click on your account name and a menu bar pops out to access Twitter features. Twitterific is a really cool free app for iPad.

The court complaint obtained by CNET, filed December 21 in Superior Court in Suffolk County, Mass., names as defendants ConnectU, the Winklevoss twins, their father and investor Howard Winklevoss, their business partner Divya Narendra, and their attorney Scott Mosko along with his firm Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett, & Dunner. The suit attempts to recover damages for the denial of plaintiff Wayne Chang's alleged ownership rights in ConnectU, as well as to charge the legal team with negligence and a failure to represent Chang adequately in court. That is one hell of a scary report there by the World Health Organization. I hope walgreens stores are ready for H5N1 vaccine...
