Vladimir Putin cracks a joke about the United States

Russia needs to develop "offensive strike systems" to preserve strategic balance with the United States, without producing its own missile defense, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said Tuesday.

Putin's comment, made at a press briefing in the far eastern Russian city of Vladivostok, echoed a similar call from Russian President Dmitry Medvedev last week.

"If we want to retain the balance, we have to establish an exchange of information: Let the U.S. partners provide us information on [their] missile defense while we will give them information on [our] offensive weapons," Putin said.

Putin also spoke positively about ongoing negotiations between the two countries on a new nuclear arms control agreement that would replace the U.S.-Russian START treaty, which expired December 5.

The United States and Russia plan to complete it and sign it at the beginning of 2010, Russian and American leaders have said. As envisioned, the new treaty would significantly reduce nuclear arms on both sides.

"I think that we need certain rules on weapons limitation which could be equally understood, easily verifiable and transparent," Putin said. "The existence of those rules is better than their absence."

He repeated that offensive and defensive arms should be linked, because they are closely related.

"It was the balance of forces -- including missile defense, air defense and offensive weapons systems -- that preserved peace even during the Cold War," Putin said.

"Since we are not developing [our own] missile defense, there is a threat that our [U.S.] partners would feel totally secure having created an umbrella against our offensive systems," he added. "Then our partners might do whatever they want; the aggressiveness in real politics and economics would increase because of the broken balance." - CNN

I am wondering if the prime minister is trying to crack up a joke or simply making fun of the United States.

AVATAR is the best movie of 2009

For almost half a billion a dollars, a magnificent sci-fi movie was made - AVATAR. Once again, James Cameron proved that his films can subdue the greatness of any Steven Spielberg's movies. Avatar is my gift for myself this Christmas. I watched the movie and I may say this is the best movie of 2009. This is an A+ movie, the only movie I've wished the humans would lose a battle.

In the future, Jake, a paraplegic war veteran, is brought to another planet, Pandora, which is inhabited by the Na'vi, a humanoid race with their own language and culture. Those from Earth find themselves at odds with each other and the local culture. Written by Giorgio_C

When his brother is killed in battle, paraplegic Marine Jake Sully decides to take his place in a mission on the distant world of Pandora. There he learns of greedy corporate figurehead Parker Selfridge's intentions of driving off the native humanoid "Na'vi" in order to mine for the precious material scattered throughout their rich woodland. In exchange for the spinal surgery that will fix his legs, Jake gathers intel for the cooperating military unit spearheaded by gung-ho Colonel Quaritch, while simultaneously attempting to infiltrate the Na'vi people with the use of an "avatar" identity. While Jake begins to bond with the native tribe and quickly falls in love with the beautiful alien Neytiri, the restless Colonel moves forward with his ruthless extermination tactics, forcing the soldier to take a stand - and fight back in an epic battle for the fate of Pandora.

Cung Le and Scott Smith replay video

"That was so much fun," Smith said. "I've got a hard head. He beat on me for a good two and a half rounds."

Le showed a lot of class in the cage after the fight, crediting Smith for the win and insisting that his acting career hadn't in any way distracted him.

"He caught me with a punch," Le said. "He was the better man tonight. I did my best and he caught me."

Cung Le has been out in the MMA scene for quite sometime, the guy still shows the best skills out there but his greatness fell short tonight. Good job to Scott for keeping his feet on the ground and eventually winning the fight. Let's see a rematch and I'm pretty sure this won't last for 2 rounds. Cung Le for the win.

Vitali Klitschko vs Kevin Johnson

If you think you're tough enough to battle with either of the Klitschko brothers, you better have something in your arsenal other than your big mouth.

Watch this super boring round 1 and 10. I only added these rounds, I think 2 rounds is enough for an eye strain.

Update:

Round 12 - Watch out when Wladimir Klitschko ushered Johnson back to his corner.

Roy Jones Jr. vs Danny Green full fight video replay

Roy Jones Jr. is one of the best boxers for me, although his greatness faded already, he's still one of the best and exciting boxers during his prime. His recent loss to Australia's top contender Danny Green would surely make up his mind and retire.

Australian Danny Green stopped Roy Jones Jr. in the first round of their IBO world cruiserweight title fight Wednesday, preventing the 40-year-old American from claiming his ninth title across five weight classes from middleweight to heavyweight.

Danny Green retained his title and improved to 28-3 with his technical knockout over Roy Jones Jr. at the Acer Arena, it was Jones Jr. first professional fight out of American soil.

It was only Jones’ sixth loss since 1989, along with 54 wins, 40 by knockout.

Roy Jones offered no excuses for a defeat which could signal the end of his career.

"We don't make excuses, it was a great performance by Danny," Jones said.

Green was almost apologetic for handing such a defeat to one of his boxing role models.

"He's one of the greatest fighters of all time and the opportunity to fight him in Australia, thanks, Roy Jones Jr.," Green told the crowd.

"I almost feel bad doing that, that almost hurt me to do that to someone whom I aspire to look up to as a professional fighter inside and outside the ring. He's a bloody legend."

After nearly a one-hour delay following an undercard bout, Jones entered the arena to mild applause. But Green, with the Australian band Men at Work's song "Down Under" playing, entered the ring to an ovation moments later.

"I didn't surprise myself," said Green.
